The designer, Yoppy, discusses her thoughts behind this collaboration.
Collaboration with BABY-G!
The moment I was approached for this exciting opportunity, the design idea popped straight into my head; I knew I wanted to create a “kawaii” watch by incorporating my casual “little sunny bite” style with extra cuteness, that is perfect all day, any day.
What do you love about BABY-G? What does it mean to you?
Mainly the design and practicality, which have been loved for all these years.
Each model has a different design, in a variety of colors and patterns. Whilst sometimes you need to switch your watch to match your outfit, I think their watches are incredibly versatile (fashion-wise), and this is where there’s similarity to my brand’s goal. The goal of “little sunny bite”. Designing clothes that go with various styles by different coordination is what I do.
Affinity between “little sunny bite” and BABY-G
I like to combine items that, at first glance, would not seem to go together, but they create totally fun and unexpected styles. I chose BA-110 as my base model to allow me to express this to the max. The pink floral print on the larger, masculine BABY-G case is totally unanticipated but really works! So I believe by working together, we have created a watch full of eye-opening and exciting combinations - it totally contrasts against the normality filling our world. I truly hope people will discover new styles, and have something awaken within them, and embark upon exciting adventures with our collaboration watch. This is how I decided on this collaboration’s slogan: “take me everywhere you go”.
Which aspects did you focus on the most?
I chose a larger watch body to set against the ordinary image of floral patterns as dainty & cute in order to produce a watch that is wearable in a variety of situations. This, combined with the feminine, floral print creates an effortless style that is cute, but not overpowering. I paid particular attention to the watch face’s color shades, in addition to the pink tone of the body to make the wearers very happy.
What styles well with “little sunny bite”- collaboration Model?
Either a girly or casual style matches well, as shown in the shoot pictures. We recommend that you wear our watch as a “Hazushi” item (a typically mismatching item which draws the eye!), and of course it’s so cute to wear as your key item with a simple, stylish outfit. My personal choice is a tom-boyish coordination of a T-shirt, denim jeans and the floral BABY-G; this is very cute.
